Dear Friends,
We have a lot going on in our house this week with my daughter's Bat-Mitzvah coming up this weekend. So unsurprisingly, the power of memories and sentimentality are on my mind a lot right now.
For those of you who have not (yet!) had the opportunity to put together a video montage for your kid, it really is an incredible experience. Long and tedious at times (with a decent learning curve for us native PC users!) but in the end, such a special special treat.
Watching your daughter's life flash by you in photos - from the baby pics all the way through with her siblings, grandparents, cousins, and friends - it really is something. I imagine this is what parents of the "bride" must feel like, only ten-fold.
I guess one of the reminders I've learned these last few weeks is to take the time. Take the time to put in the time. To be present and to enjoy the moments. The moments that make you laugh with tears, or swell with pride, or sometimes maybe even howl in frustration.
And be in the pictures! I know our selfie-obsessed culture gets to us as adults too, but don't shy away out of fear of looking old or ridiculous or imperfect. It doesn't matter. Sometimes the weirder you look, the funnier it is when you look back on it years later. Just be in it. Photos trigger the memories and each one ends up being pretty spectacular. Trust me. 💙💜
