Dear Friends,

Of all the social media photos I saw this month – the above was my favorite! To quote 22-year-old Chicago Sky rookie, Angel Reese:

“I went to the Met Gala, slayed the Met Gala in New York, came back, slayed against New York. Like, it’s what I do.”

In today’s world, we love an expertise. Being the BEST at something is what we’re all about and when Malcolm Gladwell taught us that it takes 10,000 hours of practice to become an expert at something, we took it to heart – all the way down to our kids’ activities, sports, and academics.

I think we went too far.

The luxury of being human, but especially when you have the energy that comes with being young, is that
you can do many things. You can BE many things! And with each of those experiences come lessons learned and memories created.

As we’re wrapping up May and winding down another school year, let's remind our girls that they don't have to reside in a single lane. Let's encourage them to explore robotics and Sephora, to try ice skating and karate, and to support her love for princess dresses and slaying dragons.

I’ve always admired real polymaths and recently read an article (it’s below) that spoke of
kids as multi-potentialites - I love that. Let’s raise more of those people and then sit back as we watch them truly change the world 🤩.
